Box Top Shop, Design Miami

During Design Miami 2008, ID magazine, Charles & Marie and Areaware hosted a 1,000 sq.ft. pop-up shop and lounge in the heart of Miami’s Design District, selling limited-edition objects and tote bags featuring exclusive graphics by Konstantin Grcic, Tord Boontje, and the Bouroullec brothers.

Using the language of shipping materials, namely cardboard boxes and tape, Rich Brilliant Willing devised a practical solution to create a temporary retail environment. By using flat-packed hollow volumes (cardboard boxes), a shop was assembled in a single day. Rich Brilliant Willing assembled these ubiquitous elements into a cohesive, functional whole: The Box Top Shop.
